MITCHIE M's 2nd Album "Virtual Popstar" Announced
MITCHIE M’s next album, called “バーチャル・ポップスター / Virtual Popstar,” has been announced for release in November!
Limited Edition Standard Edition Vinyl Edition
The album will be available for pre-order at the TOWER RECORDS booth at Magical Mirai 2019 in Tokyo on August 30 through September 1 in both CD and vinyl record format. Those who pre–order at the booth will receive a free B2 poster bearing the album cover art on a first-come-first-serve basis.
MITCHIE M’s first album, The Greatest Idol, will also be released on vinyl record at the same time as Virtual Popstar’s release.
The announcement for the new album came at the same time that MITCHIE M’s newest song, Seraphim on the Ring, was made available for viewing online.

“With this album, I aimed to improve on Hatsune Miku’s singing prowess, and on VOCALOID’s musical potential over my last work. I hope everyone can hear Miku’s evolution over these past six years in this album. Furthermore, I’m greatly honored to have Haruhiko Mikimoto – character designer for the original virtual idol, Lynn Minmay – illustrate the cover art with his take on Miku as a modern virtual idol. Above all, I would like for this album to give audiences the feel for the new generation popstar.”

“In the roughly 40 years that have passed since I designed Eve Tokimatsuri for Megazone 23, I never dreamed that I would eventually create an actual idol in CG form. I’m deeply moved by this development. I was also rather worried about how fans would view my take on Miku as I designed her, but I can find joy in thinking of how this design could help give rise to all sorts of new Miku designs going forward.”

At the Hatsune Miku Symphony 2019 show on October 14 at Pacifico Yokohama, pre-orders for the album will be taken. Those who pre-order there will receive an exclusive can badge bearing the Virtual Popstar main visual Miku, or a chibi Virtual Popstar Miku for free! Which one you receive will be determined at random.
