Project DIVA Mega 39’s Update Includes New “Touch-play” Mode Feature!
It’s something we’ve never seen in a console version of the Project DIVA games before… but the new update to Mega 39’s will mean the addition of an exciting new feature: Touch-play mode!
As can be seen from the image shown above, you can now see some rather familiar looking buttons at the bottom of the screen when you play; for anyone familiar with arcade version of Project DIVA (such as Future Tone), you’ll probably remember mashing said buttons in real-life!
Yes, that’s right: touch-mode takes the concept of the arcade version, and merges it with the Nintendo Switch to create the feeling of playing a mobile-style rhythm game. For anyone more accustomed to playing mobile-based rhythm games, perhaps this mode will allow you to shine your brightest, allowing for better combo scores and more accurate note-matching!
It also therefore mimics the Project DIVA Hori controllers that you can get for home use, and although those are very fun, they’re also very expensive, so being able to recreate this idea as a touch screen option is pretty cool actually!
This update is free, so anyone with the game in Asia can update the game and play its “Touch-play mode” whenever they want!
It’s also useful to note that just as with the Arcade (handheld) version of the game, you can change the type of icons you match the notes with here as well.
(Nintendo uses the “ABXY” buttons as a default to match the actual buttons on the console, but you can change this to the “△□×○” buttons if you’re someone who can’t get used to the Switch controls at all and misses the era of playing the games on Playstation consoles. Otherwise you can change the buttons to “⇧⇦⇩⇨ / up/left/down/right” arrows to spice things up.)
Update ver. 1. 0. 4 will be available to download for free on Thursday, April 30th, and it will incorporate the addition of “Touch-play mode”, as well as improving functional stability and fixing any bugs found in the game. Further details can be found on the Hatsune Miku Project DIVA Mega 39’s official site.
In other news, Mega39’s on the JP version of the Nintendo E-shop is on sale for a limited time only! From now until the 7th May 2020, you can get it at a brilliant 17% off its usual price!
That’s everything in terms of cool Mega39’s news we have for you! Make sure to get the game while it’s on sale if you live in Japan, and if you’re in the West, make sure to download the demo and pre-order the Western release of the game!
Have fun, Mega39’s players! We’ll be sure to keep you updated whenever there are new announcements for the game in the near future.

That’s awesome news! Personally I dislike many mobile titles based mostly on swipes, but here we will get tapping + simple left/right swipes from time to time, making it perfect touchscreen rhythm game. And virtual button layout should make all these multiple button combinstions easier too!
