Project SEKAI: Project Message Vol. 1

This is the Project SEKAI development team. Thank you to all who have been looking forward to our game, and we apologize for the delay of the pre-registration period originally planned for late April.

We require a bit more time until we can start pre-registration. Although this is no substitute for beginning the pre-registration period, from time to time, we will be updating fans on the current status of the project through messages like this.

Our aim is to help alleviate any doubts or concerns that fans may be feeling.

The message may be a bit long, but would appreciate it if everyone would read it in their spare time.

About the pre-registration period

There are probably some fans who hope that pre-registration and game service will start soon now that the closed beta testing has concluded. We are thus releasing our first message to the fans at this time.

Although we don’t expect pre-registration to be too far off, it will not be soon either. In particular, we think it would be very difficult to start anytime in June.

We have weighed the effects that the current State of Emergency has on the project, and have determined that a little more time is necessary. As mentioned before, we’ve had to switch over to a work-at-home setup, and it has been difficult to continue development according to our original plans while still keeping our staff safe (for example, we had to make big changes to how we handled song and voice recording sessions).

In the past month, we’ve been striving to resolve these development challenges and now have a clearer picture of the extent to which the State of Emergency affects us. However, we still ask for a bit more time before we can announce the start of pre-registration and release for the game.

The development team plans to announce details about pre-registration after a release date is decided so as to not keep fans waiting long between pre-registration and release. Therefore, we ask fans to wait just a little bit longer. Rest assured, we do not intend to keep you waiting for as long as half a year more.

Future Plans

To help tide over fans until pre-registration, we are in the process of preparing new content that fans can look forward to. In particular, we plan on holding more livestreams or releasing more videos.

We would also very much like to reveal more new information about the game, such as previously unannounced songs. (And speaking of new game info, Project SEKAI has another major feature that no other game boasts… We  will be announcing more on this after pre-registration, so look forward to it.)

Conclusion

While we require more time before pre-registration can begin, we hope that this message has helped alleviate any doubts or concerns. We will also answer any questions from fans to the best of our ability, so please feel free to ask them by replying to us on Twitter.
