Hatsune Miku x Fuyuki Kosode Restoration Project Collaboration
We’re used to seeing Hatsune Miku collaborate with video games, food companies, cafes, and countless merchandise manufacturers to keep her fans entertained. But have you ever thought that she would collaborate with national museums to help save priceless cultural artifacts?
That’s exactly what she’s doing in her latest collaboration with the Tokyo National Museum and National Center for the Promotion of Cultural Properties (hereafter “CPCP”). See how the digital diva who embodies the sound of the future is doing her part in preserving a 300-year old historical treasure.
About the Fuyuki Kosode
The historical treasure in question is the Fuyuki Kosode short-sleeved kimono housed at the Tokyo National Museum.

Also known as the Korin Kimono, the Fuyuki Kosode was designed by the Japanese painter Ogata Korin over 300 years ago, hand-painting its beautiful autumn flower design with his own brush. Now in need of restoration, the CPCP and Tokyo National Museum started the Fuyuki Kosode Restoration Project to raise funds in order to preserve the kimono for hundreds of more years, and allow more generations to admire its beauty.
You can learn more about the restoration project by visiting its official site.
Hatsune Miku’s Role
So where does Miku fit in with this project?
To answer that, Crypton Future Media has turned to 森倉円 / Morikura En, another significant artist in their own right. They created a new Miku illustration of the digital diva wearing a kimono fashioned after the Fuyuki Kosode, and standing in the Tokyo National Museum itself.
This breath-taking illustration will serve as the main visual of the collaboration, and will be used for nine different pieces of merchandise, manufactured in collaboration with four different companies. Below is a description of the goods, their prices (tax included), and their makers.
