Shogoin Yatsuhashi Sohonten x Hatsune Miku Collaboration Merch Now Available Online!
Shogoin Yatsuhashi Sohonten, established back in 1689, is a famous brand from Kyoto, known for selling yatsuhashi, a Japanese confectionery made from rice flour, sugar and cinnamon. This sweet has been well-loved for around 320 years, and now their collaboration with Hatsune Miku is taking the spotlight!
Collaboration history
Shogoin Yatsuhashi Sohonten’s collabs with Hatsune Miku first took place back in 2014 as a part of a promotional campaign for the “Magical Mirai 2014 in Osaka” concert at Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair (KyoMaf). Here you were able to get to variants of yatsuhashi:
- Matcha (ceremonial green tea) with a box art illustration from iXima
- Strawberry, with a box art illustration from のん / Non
As well as this, you were able to buy a clear A4 file with iXima’s art, featuring these same illustrations!
A second collaboration between them took place back in November 2019, and this time the yatsuhashi sweets were stocked by the wagashi shops inside the Sofmap AEON Mall KYOTO store, and of course by Shogoin Yatsuhashi themselves. The sweets this time have been available in two variations:
- Kurogoma (black sesame) with a box art illustration from Omutatsu / おむたつ
- Matcha (ceremonial green tea) with a box art illustration from Fujimi Nanna / 藤実なんな
And there were also goods brought again for the sake of this collaboration for Japacon’s XPO! But what’s even more exciting is that the merchandise from this collaboration is now available online! (Keep reading for more details).
