“Hokkaido Wherever You Are Bon Odori with Domingo” presented by Rabbit Yukine
Rabbit Yukine has certainly been busy, especially with helping out in Hokkaido during the coronavirus pandemic. You may have seen these posters that they’ve featured in:
These posters for Domingo have been used to help show people how to stay safe during the pandemic!
It seems that Yukine has also been given a new job, and that’s to present us with the “Hokkaido wherever you are Bon Odori with Domingo”* event! This month will be the Bon festival, a festival in Japan where people honour the spirits of their ancestors, usually by doing things like caring for graves and doing a special type of dance – the Bon odori. The dance and music for this vary from region to region, and Yukine mentions that this specific event will be based around the “Kodomo Bon Odori Uta”, a famous variation of this from Hokkaido. Yukine also says that this will be a special Miku version, which already sounds exciting!

How to participate
During the event, you’ll need to visit the official website here: https://domingo.ne.jp/dokobon2020
Then you need to click on the “join” button, 「参加する」(sanka suru).
You can sync multiple devices of your friends and family, and regardless of when you participate, the music and accompanying video will play at the same time as for everyone else who’s been synched in your party!
In order for things to go smoothly, technology called “Songle Sync” is being used, a platform that can control various devices in synch with music. With this, they can make sure that everyone is able to participate at exactly the same time, making things feel far more fun and unified.
The Bon odori video that will be played will feature Snow Miku and Yukine, as well as three other dancers dancing to the “Kodomo Bon Odori Uta”. Yukine was even kind enough to give us a sneak peak of the video:
