Just like last year, the event is being billed as a “social distance Bon Odori festival”, enabling those who love or are interested in the Bon season to safely continue or start experiencing it online during the COVID-19 age.
Also like before, they will be dancing to a special Hatsune Miku version of the song “Kodomo Bon Odori Uta“, a variant of the popular Bon Odori song from Hokkaido. Both Rabbit Yukine and Snow Miku will also be teaching the dance moves in a video for first-timers to learn the ropes.,
Finally, the event will be utilizing Songle Sync technology so that anyone from anywhere can participate in the event at any time they want! Just sync your device(s) with anyone else in your party, and enjoy the music and dance together!
The dance video is the same as last year’s as they could not record a new video given the troubled times that we live in. But that doesn’t mean participants can’t still have fun!
All you need to do is – hit the 参加する (Join) button on the event website, and you’re in! And remember to post your thoughts on the experience on social media with the hashtag #どこ盆!
And while you’re at it, for even more online summer activities from Japan, check out the website for the Sapporo Online Sumer Festival 2021, also happening now! It, too, is open to anyone in the world, so make sure to try out and participate in as many events as you want!
