DECO*27’s Otome Dissection Becomes New Set of LINE Stamps
After its release, Otome Kaibou (official English: Otome Dissection) was received incredibly well, to the point where it still stands as DECO*27‘s third most viewed music video on his YouTube channel as of writing, and is the second fastest song ever to reach the VOCALOID Hall of Legend (via. NicoNicoDouga). As the debut project for the group OTOIRO, its success has lead to it even being included in the game “Project SEKAI Colorful Stage! feat. Hatsune Miku“. And now the comic-style MV has even been rendered into handy LINE stamps that you can use when talking to other people!

24. Physalis (Chinese Lantern fruit) – the motif of the Physalis is incredibly important to the overarching story for Otome Kaibou, appearing both in the main cover artwork and throughout the MV. There are various meanings attributed to the Physalis, including but not limited to deception vs truth, beauty, death and protection, all of which can be seen to link to the story of the song.
Towards the end of the MV, the large, red Physalis fruits are shown in the background, standing in stark contrast to the previously grey and white manga-style pages of the rest of the video. If the motif of the Physalis is said to represent deception, it could beher deception of others and herself. “Death” could be the heavy implications of death throughout, and “protection” could be to do with the structure of the physalis itself, in being that of a delicate, decorative cage-like husk surrounding the fruit. If the protagonist was the fruit, the husk could be seen as her constantly deluding herself that she is right and just in all she’s doing and done because of her insecurities, up until the very end.
