GUMI Illustration and Song Contest Now Accepting Entries
There have of course been lots of exciting announcements surrounding GUMI in recent weeks, from the announcement of her AI voicebank accompanying her VOCALOID6 release, a whole host of new merchandise being released, to her appearance at the International Anime Festival next year!
Of course we also have a song and illustration contest to celebrate the release of her new voice bank, and there’s never been a better time to get involved! See the entry requirements below, and make sure to submit your entry or entries before the dealine next month. Best of luck everyone!
Song contest
Contest details:
You must produce a song using VOCALOID6 AI Megpoid as the main vocal.
Songs that are a remake of one of your pre-existing songs are elligible for entry.
VOCALOID AI Megpoid (GUMI) trial version will be available from December 21st to January 5th 2023. Entries using the trial version are also elligible.
Any songs using VOCALOID AI Megpoid posted on or after December 13th that meet the other entry requirements will be accepted.
/!\ Other vocal synth characters can be used for a chorus, provided that they are VOCALOID softwares that belong to Internet co. This includes the following characters:
- CUL
- Otomachi Una
- Gackpoid
- Kokone
- Chika
- CUL
- Lily
- Gachapoid

From December 21st 2022 to January 31st 2023 (JST).

Submissions must be made via Nico Nico Douga. If you do not know how to sign up for/use NND, please see the relevant section below.

- If your form has been accepted, you will recieve an entry number by email. Edit your submission to add the entry number to the description, confirming your entry.
- If all of the above has been done successfully, then your submission will be elligible for the contest!

How to upload a song to NND
- Go to the official Nico Nico Douga website: https://www.nicovideo.jp/.
- If you already have an account, you can click “login” – otherwise, click on “sign up”.
- If creating a new account, choose a pre-existing account to sign-up to NND with, or input a valid email address and password, and continue the steps to create and verify your account.
- Confirm your email address – you will recieve an email from NND, so click on the URL provided to register your information. Fill in your gender, date of birth and region information and register your account.
- Once logged in, head to the dropdown bar in the top right-hand corner and click on “upload video”.
- Upload your submission, including the title of your song and a description. Don’t forget to add the hashtags #GUMI and #Megpoid楽曲コンテスト2023.
You are encouraged to share your uploads to Twitter at the same time! Make sure to add the same tag to your Twitter post so that the official accounts can find your entry and like/retweet it.
Finally, make sure to complete the necessary form and submit it (see below section entitled “how to fill out the submission form”.
Illustration contest
Contest details:
Your illustration must feature Megpoid (GUMI). You can portray her wearing any outfit or design, so long as it doesn’t infringe any copyright.
/!\ Art that uses AI technology is not eligible to enter this contest.
/!\ Any art that has been posted before December 21st 2022 is not eligible for this contest.

How to upload art to Nico Nico Douga
- Go to the official Nico Nico Douga website: https://www.nicovideo.jp/
- If you already have an account, you can click “login” – otherwise, click on “sign up”.
- If creating a new account, choose a pre-existing account to sign-up to NND with, or input a valid email address and password, and continue the steps to create and verify your account.
- Confirm your email address – you will recieve an email from NND, so click on the URL provided to register your information. Fill in your gender, date of birth and region information and register your account.
- Click on “Images” in the top left corner of the home page.
- Then click on one of the two buttons saying イラスト (as shown).
- Now click on the orange button that says イラストを投稿する.

Now make sure to complete the necessary form and submit it (see below section entitled “how to fill out the submission form”.
How to upload art to Pixiv
Go to the official Pixiv website and choose your language: https://www.pixiv.net
- If you already have an account, you can click “log in” – otherwise, click on “create account”.
- If creating a new account, input a valid email address and password, and continue the steps to create and verify your account.
To upload your entry:
- Click on the “Post your work” drop-down, and then “illustrations”.
- Click on “Select files”, and choose your piece to upload (please be aware that uploads must be in a .png or .jpeg format and must not exceed 32MB.
- Add a title and caption for your piece, and then add any releveant tags. Remember to add the GUMIイラストコンテスト2023 tag here, otherwise your entry won’t count!
You are encouraged to share your uploads to Twitter at the same time! Make sure to add the same tag to your Twitter post so that the official accounts can find your entry and like/retweet it.
Make sure you choose your piece to be: A. visible to all ages and B. Not AI-generated work. Once you’re happy with your post settings, you can click the blue “post” button at the bottom of the page.
Finally, make sure to complete the necessary form and submit it (see below section entitled “how to fill out the submission form”.
How to fill out the submission form
After you’ve done this, don’t forget to fill out the submission form for your entry!
/!\ If you are making multiple submissions, make sure to submit separate forms for each one!
If you’ve successfully made your submission, you’ll receive an “entry number” by email
You are then required to put this entry number into the description of your entry to confirm that it does belong to you. Go back to your post and edit it to add the entry number.
