VOCALOID6 IA – What We Know So Far

Since announcing that production of IA’s VOCALOID6 voicebank was underway, the 1st Place team have certainly been busy (we should know, we spoke to them about their recent concerts, offline events and V6 not long ago). But since November, they have been gradually providing updates for what is shaping up to be an exciting year for ARIA fans.

VOC@LOiD M@STER 61

To celebrate 13 years since IA’s original release on the VOCALOID3 engine, 1st Place announced the “IA History Collection” – a new series of merchandise to be sold at THE VOC@LOiD M@STER 61.

As can be seen above, included in the roster of items was a 25cm acrylic stand featuring her V3 boxart design, a re-release of the regular version of the IA/01 – BIRTH- CD, as well as a“photocard” collection, with each card featuring a different boxart design. As well as this, they stocked a wide selection of new and older merch from the Hachimaki store (a full line-up of which can be seen here).

Most notably though, perhaps, is the Rebreath / IA VOICE ARCHIVES No.1 cassette tape and player set, featuring V6 beta demo songs, intended to pay homage to her legacy as a vocal synth. The tape and player were only available at VOC@LOiD M@STER 61, held on November 29th 2025, and those who purchased the tape and used it got the chance to listen to Arcana Idea – one of IA’s V6 demo songs – before anyone else.

Note: While the cassette tape could be purchased on its own for ¥2000, a dedicated player is needed to listen to the contents.

Judging by time stamps on Twitter, the cassette tapes sold out within about two hours (post when they finished setting up versus the sold-out items update), but it has been made available in preorder versions of IA V6, now called “No.00” instead (see below for more details).

Edit: According to a new post on 09/01/2025, the casette tape included with IA V6 preorders (“No.00”) has different songs:

IA V6 Sneak Peaks

On December 5th, we got the first major updates regarding the V6 project, indicating that the “first reveal” (presumably of her voicebank) would be on December 15th 2025.

This was followed by a quote repost with the time “19:00” indicating the exact time of the update.

As the 15th finally came around, the official IA AND IA Rebreath accounts posted this:

Not only did we get the official name of her V6 (IA :[R]　-ARIA ON THE PLANETES-) but also a release date (January 27th 2025).

In the video, we can hear what one can assume is a representation of her new voice, as well as the following text (rough translations have been provided:

: [R] Rebirth A new culture is woven once more through “rebirth”

: [R] Resonance A new kind of “resonance”, allowing words and music to echo in harmony

: [R] Rebreath “Breathing again” – allows you to breath in the wake of a new era once again

Other keywords you can notice throughout the video are “REplay“, “REproduction” and “REgeneration“.

The tagline which can be seen both in the main post as well as the video is “紡いだ声と新たな声が、再び呼吸する , and can be loosely translated as:

“That which was woven, and that which is to be spun anew; both voices will breathe again“

This was followed by a post with four important dates:

IA: [R]’s Boxart Design

As promised, December 19th brought the next update, in the form of IA’s new boxart silhouette!

IA: [R]’s pose here is very dynamic, and captures the fluid movement characteristic of her V3 art, something we haven’t seen with her in a while! Although as fans quickly noticed, something seems a bit different: compared to the long, flowing hair she’s famously sported up until now, in this new design she appears to have shorter hair, more akin to her sister OИE. At first I thought she had a slim ponytail, but that part might in fact be a scarf. Only time will tell!

On January 6th, we got a better look at what the boxart will look like…

…and they revealed a little more of her on January 8th…

…but as of writing, fans are still eagerly awaiting the reveal of the full design!

Demo songs

The next scheduled update on December 22nd brought us our first demo song, now available to ALL fans for free:

Gaburyu, on the making of Arcana Idea:

“To the people who tried to use VOCALOID before but gave up, I made this song to inspire you to try using it again with IA: [R]! I’ve done my best to try and make the song so that it functions as a good example of the voicebank’s default sound. I really like it, and you can tell that :[R] has inherited the genes of IA V3 which I’ve always loved using!

Not long after this came the second official demo song:

r-906 also posted a follow-up showing the difference between the ベタ打ち / beta-uchi (where the vsynth is singing the song as-is) and the edited version, where they tried to make her singing sound more “natural”:

While both voices are certainly that of IA, the difference is still notable, and the smoothness of the second version is incredible!

After talking to 1st Place late last year, I’m personally excited to see what new directions IA’s voice can be taken in, especially considering V6’s multi-lingual functionality.
