Fans Start Heartwarming Appreciation Project for EZFG in Response to End of Life Care

EZFG, known in particular for the songs サイバーサンダーサイダー / Cyber Thunder Cider and とても痛い痛がりたい / Hurting for a Very Hurtful Pain (2012), explained on Bluesky that they have been admitted to an end of life care unit in January of this year, and that it is estimated they only have a few months left to live.

In response, an account named “To EZFG From Fans” was created, as a way to spread the word and encourage vocal synth community members to send support.

Note: The translations here are unofficial, but attempt to convey information as neutrally as possible. One pitfall of translation as a profession is that there will always be a trace of the translator’s voice present. I do not intend to speak on behalf of EZFG, especially considering this is an incredibly sensitive situation. You may refer to the translations from To EZFG From Fans, or use the Google Translate function under each post if you prefer.

Timeline

On January 27th, EZFG posted:

あと余命宣告っぽいのいただきました2、3ヶ月っぽいですさぁどうなることやら

Translation: “It looks like I’ve been given a prognosis for how long I have left to live.
It looks like I have about 2 or 3 months.
Huh, I wonder what will happen.”

On February 23rd, they posted an update saying that they were being admitted to a palliative care ward, also known as “end of life care”:

このタイミングでいったん緩和ケア病棟入院の巻

“As of now, I’ll be going into palliative care for a little while.”

On March 11th, EZFG posted a thank-you message for all of the support they’ve received:

たくさんのありがたい温かいメッセージをいろんな所から受け取っておりますどうもありがとう今はお返しする気力が無いので、ただ受け取らせてください皆さまの優しさに甘えさせてください皆さまはどうかそれぞれの日常をとにかく楽しんでください存分に謳歌してください小さくてもたくさんの幸せを感じて生活をして欲しいですとりあえず、私はまだ間違いなく生きておりますので皆さまには本当に感謝しておりますどうもありがとうございます

“I have received lots of warm messages of appreciation from so many places.
Thank you.
I don’t have the energy to reply to all of them individually, so please allow me to merely accept them for now.
Please allow me to indulge in the kindness you have all shown me.
Regardless of anything else, please make sure that you enjoy every day which comes to you in whatever ways you can.
Revel in every day to your heart’s content.
I’d like for you to live in a way where you can experience plenty of happiness of all sizes.
For now, since I’m still unequivocally alive,
I’m so incredibly grateful to all of you.
Thank you so much.”

The thread below outlines their aims and ways they think we can show our appreciation:

The website also provides an overview of EZFG recent health updates, and goes into more detail on ways to contribute to the project:

“Q: What can I do?

We will collect every work related to the project on our X account and this website.

EZFG’s Music

I, like many of you I’m sure, found EZFG through the song Hurting for a Very Hurtful Pain. I remember stumbling across it and adding it to my Youtube → MP3 converted playlist as a teenager. It remains one of the most notable uses of VOCALOIDS VY1 and VY2 to date, even moreso since it was added to mobile game Project SEKAI (in 2021 for the Japan version and 2022 for EN), and it will certainly remain as such for many years to come, if not indefinitely.

One of EZFG‘s SNS posts which I found amusing was this one:

初音ミクで曲が作れない症候群

EZFG (@ezfg.bsky.social) 2025-08-31T10:39:54.185Z

“Unable to make songs with Hatsune Miku Syndrome”

…because EZFG has notably used non-Piapro Character vocals, such as VY1, VY2 and even when they DO use cryptonloids, it’s always anyone except Miku (most recently EZFG has used Megurine Luka, Mai (SynthV), SARAH (VOCALOID 6) and RIME (CeVIO AI)).

If any time would be good to check out EZFG‘s music, and get to know some other voicebanks you might not hear very often, I think now would be it.

Here I’ll introduce a selection of their recent uploads:

闇あがり / After the Darkness feat. Mai (Feb. 2025)

Self Mind Control feat. AKITO (Nov 2023)

Fluttering to the Ground feat. RIME (May 2023)

Cyber Thunder Cider (remaster) feat. VY1 (Nov. 2022)

Hurting for a Very Hurtful Pain (remaster) feat. VY1V3, VY2 (Oct. 2022)

magician’s operation (remaster) feat. Megurine Luka (Jul. 2022)

Of course there are many more songs than this, so I’d encourage you to check them out if possible.

A full list can be found on EZFG’s vocaDB page, and their YouTube channel (more links can be found below, and on the To EZFG From Fans website.

Other remarks

It’s worth noting that this project appears to be created solely by community members, without EZFG‘s input, or that of anyone close to the vocaP. Considering the sensitivity of this situation, I would like to implore fans to stay respectful in their comments and tributes. Judging by EZFG‘s Bluesky post giving thanks for the kind messages received as of recently, it can be assumed that such a project is appreciated, and certainly worth participating in.

However, people can choose to send their messages, or upload tributes to EZFG independently, should they wish.

It is probably not recommended to DM or tag EZFG in posts unless you feel it is appropriate. Since their illness is terminal, sending messages or posting that you “hope that they get better” has been noted by community members to be inappropriate. Judging by this response, perhaps it’s best to think carefully and make sure that our messages are aimed more towards positive impacts of EZFG and their music.

I’m sure that many fans will want to get involved in this project, and whether you’ve been listening to EZFG‘s songs for a decade, or you found out about them today, perhaps consider sending your own message of appreciation.
