10th ProSEKA NEXT Song Contest Announced

The Project SEKAI Colorful Stage! feat. Hatsune Miku original song contest series is going strong, and now enters its milestone 10th installment!

The theme of this round is “cheering song,” the type of song made to support and cheer on listeners going through a rough time. So if you’d like to enter to lend your support not only to the game, but also your support and solidarity to someone out there in need, then this contest is for you!

Details of the competition

  • Submission dates: from April 1st until May 31st, 2022 at 17:00 JST
  • Theme: Free

Winners will…

  • Have their song playable in the game in 2D (Lite) mode
  • Win an Amazon giftcard worth ¥50,000 JPY
  • Have their name featured in the game credits

How to Enter

  • Upload your song entry to YouTube or Niconico
  • Include the text “第10回プロセカNEXT応募楽曲” in the video description
  • Include the tag #プロセカNEXT in the video details page (on YouTube) or video info entry page (on Niconico)
  • Include your Twitter handle or an email address that can be used to contact you in the video description; if you include your account, then you must follow the official Project SEKAI Twitter account (@pj_sekai)

By entering the contest, you agree to the following:

  • Your entry must be the full version of the song.
    ※The game version will be a roughly 2 minutes long with one chorus and the outro
  • Your entry must be an original song that has no contract or trust agreement with any music publishing company or management organization, and has never been entered into any contest except a ProSEKA NEXT contest.
  • You may enter a previously published song of yours as long as all other rules listed are followed, and it was first posted after the date of February 1, 2021.
  • Your song must be sung by Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, Megurine Luka, MEIKO and/or KAITO (multiple singers are allowed).
  • Song entries will not qualify for this contest if they use any other voices besides the above-mentioned characters (including human voices) anywhere in the song (including the chorus and as background voices).
  • You may make as many song entries as you like.

Other Notes

  • This contest is organized by SEGA Games and Colorful Palette (hereafter “the contest organizers”).
  • Contestants can be of any skill level (professional or amateur) or age (those under the age of 18 must obtain parental or guardian consent).
  • You are solely responsible if claims are filed against your entry for infringing on the rights of any third party. The contest organizers bear no responsibility.
  • Edits and changes made to entry information (such as song titles) will not be be reflected in the works after the entry period ends.
  • All entrants agree to not claim or exercise any rights in regards to works that they submit to the contest organizers. Furthermore, under no circumstances will the submitted works be returned to the entrants.
  • Contest entries may be used in announcements or sales promotions by the contest organizers, or posted on their websites compensation-free and without prior consent from contestants.
  • While contestants hold the copyright for winning song entries, the contest organizers will be the ones managing the songs. The organizers also hold the rights to commercialize the songs.
  • After the winning song entry is determined, the rights to use the song with the game Project SEKAI Colorful Stage! feat. Hatsune Miku (recording, live performance, PR campaigns, etc.) will transfer to the contest organizers.
  • Winning entrants must provide all data necessary for adding their song into the game (lyrics text, midi data, game-size song data*).
    *One-chorus version of no more than 2 minutes in length, including the outro.
  • When adding the winning entry into the game, the song chart, jacket illustration and more will be created at the contest organizers’ discretion.
  • Winning entrants must provide all necessary data for PR campaigns, such as the song’s audio data.
  • The winning entry may be deleted or modified without the contestant’s consent due to circumstances of the organizers’ publishing and usage of the song.
  • This campaign may be cancelled or have its content changed without prior notice.

As the ProSEKA NEXT contest series goes double digits, they are clearly looking to expand the types and themes of songs in the game’s already diverse library. Going from “downer” to “cheering song” shows how they can jump from one end of a given spectrum to the next in the same game to suit music fans of all tastes, one of Project SEKAI’s many strengths.
