Project SEKAI Colorful Stage! feat. Hatsune Miku Gameplay Updates
Starting on Sunday, April 26, 2020, The Project SEKAI Colorful Stage! feat. Hatsune Miku official Twitter account and the SEGA feat. HATSUNE MIKU Project YouTube channel have been uploading gameplay video updates for the upcoming mobile game! Check them out below and see what you can expect when the game officially launches!
※ Keep in mind that all content shown below is work-in-progress
Difficulty Levels
In the first gameplay trailer, we get to see what みきとP / MikitoP‘s ロキ / Roki will play like with the various difficulty levels: EASY, NORMAL, HARD, EXPERT and MASTER.
The footage shown is most likely the game’s Solo Live play mode given how there is the option the pause the game in the upper-right corner of the screen. Other features of the interface will also be familiar to players of Craft Egg‘s other game, BanG Dream! Girls Band Party.
・Players start with 1000 life.
・Players can earn a grade of C, B, A or S (SS does not seem to be present).
・Total score and points acquired from successful note taps appear in the upper-left corner below your grade progress.
・Each successful note will add to a combo counter.
・Among regular blue notes to be tapped, there are also green sliders and red upward flick notes, as well as yellow notes that probably activate member skills.
Multi Live
An official tweet from April 27 confirms that the game will have both Solo Live and Multi Live play options, and the accompanying video shows off the latter. An analysis of the trailer screens will reveal some other aspects of the interface and gameplay.
1) In Multi Live mode, there is a free room (フリールーム) where you can be matched up with other players. There will likely be other options for rooms.
2) As a player, you have a rank that you can level up with experience earned.
3) There is some sort of gem currency in the game, possibly used for general item purchases or gacha pulls.
4) The game gives energy / boosts to consume while playing live shows. You can have a maximum of 10 and they will slowly refill over time (presumably 1 every 30 minutes).
5) Each player is represented by a character card, and each card has some sort of attribute represented by a five-point star, a heart, a crescent moon, or a six-point star.
6) Each character card has its own level and assigned star amount (presumably showing their rarity, and determining how high they can level up; level 30 appears to be the max for 2-star cards).
7) Players can use character stamps to emote while waiting for other players to enter the room, select songs, or select difficulty levels:
・Kanade stamp: じゃ… (“Well then…”)
・Luka stamp: うれしいわ (“I’m so happy”)
・Rin stamp: がんばろうー!(“Let’s do our best!”)
8) Each player has their own ID number presumably for other players to search for and send friend requests to.
9) Players appear to have the option to create their own room and presumably invite other friended members to play in it (grayed out in this video).
Once five members have entered the room, they move on to the song selection step.
10) Players have 20 seconds to choose their desired song to play.
11) Players can narrow down the song list based on the unit that sings them for easier picking, or choose from the full list.
12) Each song has its difficulty range displayed, presumably showing the EASY and MASTER difficulty levels. Here is what we can tell from this list:
・スイートマジック / Sweet Magic: 7-28
・Blessing: 7-27
・自傷無色 / Jishou Mushoku (Self Inflicted Achromatic): 6-27
・Tell Your World: 6-27
・ロキ / Roki: 7-28
・ヒバナ -Reloaded- / HIBANA -Reloaded-: 8-33
13) Each song will have five slots that presumably get filled in as you complete them on their various difficulty levels.
14) Some songs have MV displayed on their row, showing whether or not they have a music video that plays with them (in this list, only “Blessing” and “ヒバナ -Reloaded- / HIBANA – Reloaded-” do not have music videos).
15) Players can also opt to select おまかせ / Random.
16) Finalize your song selection here:
17) Once all fine members have selected their songs, the Music Shuffle step will begin and randomly select a song from the player list.
※Unlike BanG Dream, it seems like the game can possibly land on a player who chose おまかせ (Random). What happens in such a case is currently unknown
18) Miku stamp: よろしく (“Let’s play”)
In the final step before playing, each player selects their desired difficulty level.
19) Players have 10 seconds to choose a difficulty level to play.
20) There is a button that says ボーカル変更 / Change Vocalist (grayed out in this video). This will presumably allow you to change whether you play the “sekai” version of the song with human singers, or the VOCALOID version with virtual singers only.
21) Here is where players selected their desired difficulty level.
22) There is a button with a gear symbol that is presumably for further setting customization.
23) There is also a button to choose high-quality 3D for the music video that plays (if there is one).
24) Here is the button to finalize your selection.
25) During Multi Live, the portraits for all member characters are displayed, and so are their current combos.
26) During Multi Live, the pause button is grayed out and unselectable.
**UPDATE ON APRIL 30, 2020**
Live Bonus
The latest tweet introduces Live Bonuses. By using Live Bonuses when playing live shows, you can greatly increase the amount of rewards and experience points earned after the shows conclude. Picture below is a whopping 25x increase!
The tweet also confirms that using Live Bonuses is not required to play live shows; you’ll always be free to play them without using Live Bonuses, though you would probably get only the base amount of rewards and experience points without the bonuses.
What isn’t yet clear is how players can acquire Live Bonuses to use, and how many of them can be used at a time, especially if they want the pictured 25x increase. We expect this to be revealed in due time!
