Project SEKAI Costume Design Campaign Round 6 Results

Hopefully by now you’ve heard the news that the newest winners of the ProSEKA Costume Design Campaign are in, and if you’re a fan of animals, then this contest must’ve been right up your alley! We’ve seen a variety of entries, from raccoons to your quintessential cat girls (and boys), but now we know which outfits will in fact be added to Project SEKAI later this year. Read on to find out more, including about the newest honourable mentions!

Winner for the theme “Animal” – Women

Judges comments:

The fact that the outfit has a nice rusty, earthy brown colour is really cute, since it matches the theme of a bear well! As well as this, the red used as an accent throughout the design makes it even cuter! We chose this design because of these things, alongside the small details such as the flower pattern and the frills, all of which add up to an outfit which really gives off the look of a bear in a forest.

Winner for the theme “Animal” – Men

Title of work:「電華熊猫」/ Electric Panda

Judges comments:

This outfit feels very well coordinated, what with the black and white shoes and jacket and belt and other items, including the cute panda hat which really turns this into an animal-inspired costume. In addition, we thought that the use of the Chinese motifs (including and aside from the panda) has been done in a fantastic way which create an interesting fusion between [traditional] Chinese clothing and modern fashion, hence why we chose it as a winner!

Other notable points from the artist:

This is a costume which has been designed as a fusion between pandas, China and cyber aspects. The oversized jacket and boots are meant to create a sihlouette which reflects the shape and size of pandas
A Chinese pattern has been incorporated
Chinese clothing is on top of an undershirt
The undershirt’s hem is shorter than than of the Chinese garment’s, and the sleeves are 3/4 length ones
A diagonally cut red piece of fabric protrudes out underneath
The hoodie ends just below the slimmest part of the waist
The sleeves of the jacket and hemline are rolled up
The triangles dotted around the design are made from plastic
There are paws on the palm parts of the fingerless gloves
There’s a white panda tail on the back!
The triangle carabiner with checker print belt attaches onto the main belt around the waist
The back of the hoodie is meant to resemble how the black fur on the back of the neck of pandas work
The armholes of the jacket are slightly further away from the shoulders (since it’s oversized)
The artist created a motif which is a combination of bamboo and radio waves/the phone signal symbol

Honourable mentions – Women

These are costumes that won’t be added to the game, but that the contest judges felt deserve recognition and appreciation! We won’t be translating everything to do with the following designs for now, but at least you get to see them, and can possibly use them as a reference for what the judges are looking for in these contests.

The winning designs (excluding honourable mentions) for the theme of “Animal” will be featured as items as part of the Premium Mission Pass throughout August 2021*! Artists whose work is featured in the game will also be added to the game credits, and receive a 3,000 yen Amazon gift voucher!

*Please note that the Premium Mission Pass is a pay-to-access feature. It costs 1960 yen for the whole month, and gives you “paid” crystals (x1800) and Virtual Coins (x1800). To unlock the outfit for Premium Mission Pass, you’ll need to earn approximately 5000 Live Points before the end of the month. For other colourways of the featured outfit, you’ll need to earn 6000, 7000 and 8000 Live Points before the end of the given month.

Although round 6 is done and dusted, there are still options for budding artists to have their design noticed and added to Project SEKAI, and worn by our favourite characters! This month’s contest’s theme is “pyjamas”, and there’s still time to join, so don’t miss out!
