Project SEKAI 1 Year Anniversary Illustration Contest

Considering all of the build-up to the release of the game Project SEKAI, it feels as though the game has been with us for much longer than just a year! Of course the development team want the fans to get involved to celebrate, and thus we have another illustration contest to participate in. In a similar vein to the previous half anniversary art contest, the one year anniversary competition asks for fans to draw their favourite characters from the SEKAI; find out the specifics for entering below, including info on prizes.

The following translations are all unofficial

Details of the competition

  • Submission dates: from July 21st until August 27th 2021 at 23:59 JST
  • Theme: An artwork for the one year anniversary of Project SEKAI
  • Characters allowed: any of the unit characters in Project SEKAI are allowed to be featured in your artwork
  • Number of winners: unspecified as of writing

Details for submission:

  • Image size: A3 (it doesn’t matter if the work is horizontal or vertical)
  • Resolution: 350dpi

Please note that if your work is selected as a winner, you’ll be expected to submit the data for the illustration, potentially including the original art file (as opposed to a JPEG or PNG).

How to apply:

  • Make sure you’re following the official Project SEKAI account on Twitter (@pj_sekai)
  • Post your artwork to Twitter with the hashtag #プロセカ1周年記念イラスト

Prizes

Anyone whose work is selected to win will have their work used as part of a celebratory 1st anniversary project by the official development team! You will also receive cool prizes (specific details TBA as of writing).

Other Rules

  • Entrants younger than 18 years of age must supply parental or guardian consent.
  • You are solely responsible if claims are filed against your entry for infringing on the rights of any third party. The contest organizers bear no responsibility.
  • Your entry must be an original work that has never been uploaded online before or used in other contests, and can’t be under any other rights restrictions.
  • Please note that in case of the winning works being printed out, data conversion to the CMYK colour format will be required. If your work was done using the RGB colour format, expect some slight colour differences between the digital and printed versions.
  • Results will be announced sometime in May, and the winning entrants will be contacted Twitter DM from the official Project SEKAI account, so please make sure that your account is able to receive DMs (i.e. it’s not set to “private”). If the team are unable to contact you, your prize may be handed to someone else.

Please also note that a good grasp of the Japanese language is likely necessary, since the organisers may need to contact you about your work and its usage for the project.

To see all of the illustrations submitted so far, make sure to check out the Twitter hashtag here. We wish all the best to those of you who plan on entering, and look forward to finding out more information about prizes, and what the team have in store for us for the one year anniversary coming up soon!
